Correspondence of Secretary of State Thomas A. Rogers, most dating from 1820. The majority are routine in nature and concern elections of militia officials, commissioning of officers, state finances or publications. Of particular interest is a letter, 1820 May 8, from Senator William R. King, which discusses state and national politics, mentioning the recent Missouri Compromise and Public Land Act. Also included is a letter, 1821 July 5, from Marmaduke Williams, which mentions the 1821 gubernatorial election between Henry Chambers and Israel Pickens and which includes a written statement about the militia draft law.
